Taylor Estus, 2x Gestational Carrier, including one journey for The Surrogacy Foundation founders
A two-time gestational carrier from Alabama, Taylor Estus carried a child for The Surrogacy Foundation’s founders and calls surrogacy a superpower.
“When I decided to be a surrogate, there were lots of feelings. There was excitement, there was nervousness,” Taylor Estus shared. “But the majority of the time it was always just excitement.”
A mother of two from Jasper, Alabama, Taylor had always loved being pregnant. After welcoming a son and a daughter with her husband Adam, their family felt complete. But Taylor found herself missing the experience of pregnancy and began exploring whether surrogacy might allow her to help another family experience the joy of parenthood.
At first, the idea surprised the people closest to her. When Taylor first told Adam she was thinking about becoming a surrogate, he thought she might be joking. But after learning more about the process and speaking with an agency, he became one of her strongest supporters. Together, they decided to move forward.
Taylor would go on to complete two surrogacy journeys, including carrying a child for the founders of The Surrogacy Foundation, helping them grow their family through surrogacy.
Delivery day brought one of the most powerful moments of the journey. When the baby was born and she heard the first cry, Taylor felt the emotion of the moment all at once.
“She came out and I heard her cry and I just instantly started crying,” Taylor recalled. “I remember looking at my husband and saying, ‘We did this.’”
Instead of holding the baby herself, Taylor watched as the newborn was placed into the arms of the parents who had been waiting for that moment. For her, it captured the heart of what surrogacy makes possible.
Looking back, Taylor describes surrogacy as life-changing. “While you’re pregnant, you kind of feel like a superhero,” she shared. “It honestly feels like a superpower.”
Her story reflects the extraordinary generosity of gestational carriers, people who choose to use their strength, time, and care to help others build the families they have been dreaming of.
