Olivia Munn, Actress and Mother of Two, Including One via Surrogacy, Following Breast Cancer Treatment

After a breast cancer diagnosis, actress Olivia Munn and John Mulaney welcomed their daughter through a gestational carrier she calls a “real-life angel.”

“I felt like an expectant father waiting for our baby to arrive. I was so grateful to the woman who carried her and made this possible for our family,” Olivia Munn shared.

In 2023, Olivia Munn was diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer, a diagnosis that required extensive treatment and dramatically changed what a future pregnancy could safely look like for her.

Before undergoing further procedures, Munn was able to complete an egg retrieval, preserving the possibility of expanding her family in another way.

In September 2024, she and husband, John Mulaney, welcomed their daughter, Méi June, through a gestational carrier. When speaking publicly about the journey, Munn described the deep trust involved in asking another woman to carry her child and the importance of finding someone who understood the emotional weight of that decision.

In her interview with People, she expressed profound gratitude toward the woman who carried their daughter, describing her as a “real-life angel.”

Olivia’s story reflects a truth shared by many families navigating illness and recovery: surrogacy can become the path that allows hope to continue when pregnancy itself is no longer possible.
